Stress Free Conroe Family Session with Older Children | The DeGeorgio Family

Meet the DeGeorgio family, some of the most fun and caring folks that I have ever met! Adina, a sweet mom of two, won athlete of the month over at the gym I attend and I was honored to be their Conroe family photographer that evening!  This family is part of my fit fam over at CrossFit Willis, and I love being able to capture sweet moments for these people who are so dear to me. It’s families like these that remind me how blessed I am to provide stress free Conroe family sessions with older children.

The DeGeorgio’s

Adina and her husband are seriously some of the most fun parents I have ever met! They have two teenage daughters, and I just loved the chemistry between the four of them. It is obvious that they are very close, and are always laughing and playing jokes on each other! We all know that teenagers can sometimes drift away from their parents, but the DeGeorgio’s have really stuck together as a team through thick and thin. I love that about them!

Their Outdoor Session

We chose to do a candid session in a beautiful field right off of FM 1097 in Willis (just about a short 15 minute drive from The Woodlands, and about 40 minutes from North Houston). The scenery was absolutely gorgeous, especially trees in the background. They curved inwards, which made for the perfect natural frame around the family. Not to mention, there were dandelions, and there is nothing more fun than making wishes and blowing on them in the wind!
I always try to create a stress-free environment for my clients. In order to do this, I encourage them to be themselves, have fun, and play as much as possible. After all, this is the best way to get those natural smiles. The DeGeorgio’s had no problem being themselves, and had a blast throughout the session, especially Dad! He is hilarious, and constantly making his girls laugh. I loved the images I was able to get of them in the moment laughing at each other, and at the gym, he has everyone in stitches, too.  What great memories they will be able to cherish forever!
This is such an amazing family! I love capturing Stress Free Conroe Family Session with Older Children. Especially when they’re as hilarious as these four!

Clothing Store Recommendations for The Woodlands Family and Newborn Photography

Clothing Store Recommendations for The Woodlands Family and Newborn Photography

When it comes to preparing for a session with your photographer, wardrobe is such a huge component, as it can totally affect the outcome of your photos. Are you stuck on what you and your family should wear for your newborn or family session?

Here are 4 ideas on great places that will provide the perfect wardrobe you are looking for!

1. My client wardrobe – I have invested in a wardrobe for my clients to use, if needed or wanted! This wardrobe is free for all clients to use. It includes tops, bottoms, and mostly maxi dresses that compliment any body type.  I have sizes for women that range from 2-12 and if you are interested in wearing pieces from my wardrobe, be sure to contact me if you want to schedule a wardrobe consult.
2. Free People – Free People has a vintage, classic look that tends to flatter nearly all body types. They can be a bit on the pricy side, but sometimes have great sales online and in stores. If you like floral, lace, and flowy clothing, this is the store for you.  You can visit this store locally, in The Woodlands Mall (located at 1201 Lake Woodlands Dr, The Woodlands, Tx 77380) right off the freeway, or visit their website to view their beautiful, high end pieces! <3
3. ASOS – This clothing brand was originally meant to portray clothing that was “as seen on screen,” or styles that were worn for celebrities. ASOS offers the most recent styles, geared for adults in their 20’s. Shop here if you want the current trends to be portrayed in your sessions.  This website is online and I believe based out of the UK.  You can visit their website here.  And be sure to always check their sale items.  Beautiful pieces for affordable prices!!
4. Old Navy (for kids) – Old Navy is a well known store that offers affordable clothing that is not only adorable, but comfortable for your kiddos. Their goal is to appeal to it’s customers with fun, fashion, and value.  They have a store located in The Woodlands in the Portofino Center (19075 Interstate 45 S, Shenandoah, Tx 77385) and one in Conroe at the Conroe Marketplace (2908 I45 N, Conroe, Tx 77303).  You can also shop styles conveniently online!
5. Gap (for kids) – Gap is similar to Old Navy, but slightly more pricey. There’s more bang for your buck, though, because the clothes will last longer than most. They are known to have classic styles that tend to stick around for several generations, as well as trendy options that go with the current times.  Gap Kids is located at the Premium Outlets in Cypress (29300 Hempstead Rd, Cypress, Tx 77433) if you need to get something quick, but their online selection is so convenient and a wealth of really amazing styles.

Houston Photography: How to Manage Personal Life with being a Small Business Owner

Houston Photography: How to Manage Personal Life with being a Small Business Owner

If I had a dollar for every single time someone says, “I have no idea how you manage it all” I would seriously be the next Bill Gates.  haha 😉  As a mom, it seems that I always have my hands full. I mean, let’s face it, us moms are so busy constantly! From taking care of kids (and all that entails), taking care of personal responsibilities, making my husband feel loved and special, and trying to have a personal life in between, it seems impossible to add anything else on the to-do list. However, I had a passion for photography, and wanted to start a business following my dreams. I am here to tell all of you busy folks that it is possible! Whether you are a parent, a student, or just a busy person, you can definitely pursue so much more. Here are 4 tips on managing personal life with starting a new business.  When I first started doing Houston Photography, I “wore all the hats” and often felt like I was drowning.  I am proud to say, that I started doing these 4 things and my quality of life has significantly improved!
1. Start by outsourcing your least favorite task (whether it be in your personal life or business side). For example, hire a house cleaner, a photo editor, a person to manage your emails, or social media posts, etc. One great example of this is Wal-Mart (the most successful business ever). One person doesn’t wear all the hats. There’s department managers, store managers, regional managers, clerks, financial people, social media managers, etc etc etc etc! It’s proven to be successful. The same goes in any business.  So to outsource the tasks that doesn’t “ruffle your feathers” that seems like, “I can’t afford that, I can do it, etc.”  But the reality is- to make space for big thinking, you HAVE to do this.
2. Set yourself “work hours” – and don’t skew from them. This creates more “normalcy” in your life and sets good expectations for your clients on response times and turnaround times. It also kind of forces you to have time off. Time off is such a crucial part of owning a business. You need to take time for yourself and your family without work affairs involved.  And REALLY take time off.  Shut your emails off after your work hours are over, set up an auto responder for said emails that tell your clients that you will get back to them first thing in the morning, etc.  Enjoy these moments with your babies.  With your husband or wife.  Time is the only thing we will never be able to get back.
3. Prioritize. Your family should always come first. Many times we often find ourselves consumed with our jobs that we tend to do the opposite. However, making time for your family is something that you will find to be the most rewarding. 30 years from now, you won’t cherish those long nights on the job. What you WILL cherish are the memories made with your loved ones. This doesn’t have to be related to work, either. Make time elsewhere, such as chores around the house. The dishes can wait – take your kids on a bike ride on a beautiful day!
4. You matter, too! Making time for yourself is so important. We all need time to “recharge.” For instance, I enjoy going to the gym and getting a good workout in. This is something for me that I make time for. Without my fitfam over at CrossFit Willis, I think my brain would be on “insane” mode on the regular.  Give yourself a time in the day to read a book, write in your journal, tend to your garden, etc. YOU are so important!

Montgomery County Tx Family Photographer – O’Leary Family

Montgomery County Tx  Family Photographer – O’Leary Family

Pink sun dresses…Ruffled collars….Monogrammed initials…Could we possibly get any girlier?! How about we throw in two gorgeous little ladies, add a handsome daddy to wrap around their tiny pinkies and a beautiful mommy all dressed in white. A fairy tale you say?… I’d have to agree, but to the O’Leary family– this is simply the life they’ve been blessed with.  It’s a true joy to be able to serve my community and documenting their precious moments.  Being a Montgomery County Tx Family Photographer has also blessed me with special souls such as these.

We did one quick outfit change on the littlest princess and off we were on an adventure. Let’s take a second to stop and appreciate the earthy goodness of this field…Yum!!! Could you possibly imagine a more perfect tree-lined path, with more perfect lighting for a more perfect family?! I’m beginning to see a trend here..  we took to the wide open fields of Montgomery, Tx right next to Fernland Historical Park and Ransom’s Steakhouse right off of HWY 105.  Fernland is nestled right next to the Montgomery County Library and provides such a unique setting for a family portrait session.

I love playing games with the children throughout family portrait sessions. It lightens things up a bit and gets their gigglers going. My favorite game has to be having mommy and daddy lift a blanket high in the air and have the littles sprint under. (Is it just me or are you having flashbacks to Friday’s in elementary gym class??…Ohhh…Parachute day…. Best. Day. Ever.) Aaaanywho.. This game never fails to yield perfect looks of pure joy on the kiddos faces. A child at play is a truly beautiful thing to behold, don’t you think?

It was an honor getting to know and work with this family. I am so grateful for each and every one of my clients and the opportunity I get to sneak in and steal a picture of the beauty that is their world. Enjoy.

Houston Family and Newborn Photographer – New Years Resolutions

Houston Family and Newborn Photographer – New Year’s Resoultions

Christmas is over (tear tear), our extended family came and went, and life as we know it has returned back to normal.  Normal is good and routine, though we will miss our family that came and visited.  The kids have a bundle of new toys that are keeping their attention and I am trying to hold onto the extra time I have with them before school starts with never ending homework and the hustle and bustle of the new semester.  I do not want to complain, because the joy of seeing my oldest little achieve things like reading and being so super proud of himself is indescribable.

I have been reading a lot about how perspective is everything and I wholeheartedly agree.  I am not one to make cliche New Year’s Resolutions, but as I reflect on my 2016, there are some areas I would like to see change.  So I wanted to make a list of them to hold myself accountable and to maybe inspire others to reflect a little and see where they could improve upon in their new year! <3  So without further ‘ado… here goes:

  1. No Texting and Driving.  I feel like a lot of us are guilty of this.  And with a few close calls since the texting phenomenon started, it’s time to get serious.  I carry my babies around in my car and their life is too precious to risk with such a senseless (and quite dangerous) act.  No, I am not better at texting and driving than the person who was killed yesterday.  No I am not invincible.  Yes, it can happen to me.  Yes, it can also happen to you!  Can someone hold me accountable to this??  Maybe we can hold one another accountable?!
  2. Be a Healthier Version of Myself.  I feel like this starts from within and will work itself outward.  Notice I did NOT say, “I want to be skinnier” or “I want to be prettier.”  No, what I mean is: I want to be healthy.  I want to rid myself of the plague of anxiety (2016 got better, though I did have some bouts of panic), so that’s a work in progress.  I want to embrace the me that my kids and husband see as beautiful (another work in progress).   The more I tell myself: “YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL” the more I am believing it!!  I am here to shout to the rooftops and say- each one of us are beautiful.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  If you have curves, rock them.  If you are thin, rock it!  You are beautiful and we were each made differently for good reason.  So eat with healthy intentions (be sure to indulge, too), exercise to get your heart and lungs working and pumping, but LIVE.  Because… #YOLO  A huge thanks to the folks over at Crossfit Willis for showing me the powerhouse that I never knew I could be.  Life changing, for sure.
  3. Time.  I want to get more efficient with my time and dole it out where it is needed: with family.  Again, #YOLO, and it’s important for me to spend more time with my kids.  So if that means investing in help with my business part time, cutting down on working, or making my job a little more streamlined…I need to get this under control.  I do not want to work all the time, and my kids do not want me to either.  So lots of changes coming in 2017 for Andrea Surak Photography!!!!
  4. Kindness.  I want to spread that ish everywhere.  In a world full of cruelty and pain, kindness is such a beautiful thing.  It doesn’t cost a thing and it’s the best feeling in the whole world.  If I teach my kids anything, I hope I teach them kindness.  So my goal: do a random act of kindness at least once a month. I have this GRAND idea, but it seems so hard to implement.  Stay tuned, I may get the courage to implement it!
  5. Keep my Car Clean.  Yep, I am that person that no one wants to ride with because I can’t maintain a clean car.  My sister got out of my car and had a piece of gum stuck to her arm.  Because… busy season and kids.  Haha, but geeze louise… that’s just ridiculous.  So, I want to clean it at least once a month.  To new beginnings, eh?
  6. …To Be Continued….

I get it.  We are all a work in progress.  I also understand that tomorrow is never guaranteed and people come and go from my life year after year.  It’s part of life so I want to live mine in the most positive and beautiful way I can.  So Au Revoir to 2016 and HELLO 2017- I feel like it’s going to be an amazing year.

Montgomery Natural Light Family Photographer – The Paske Family

Montgomery Natural Light Family Photographer – The Paske Family

How to possibly describe the hilarious endless comedy hour that is the Paske family… From their littlest diva, Addison, aspiring gymnast, to Savannah, their sweet and sassy middle child to Austin, the quintessential baseball star big brother. Stephanie and Pete (aka mom and dad) are the glue of this adorable, athletic, adventurous family.  So being a Montgomery Natural Light Family Photographer, it is a true pleasure to document these moments for precious families like the Paskes.

I was instantly thrilled when Stephanie approached me about a family session with all the kiddos. We immediately knew we wanted to do a fun outdoor session, full of natural light. Steph and I started talking about color schemes and eventually decided to (of course) match the entire family to little Addison, (better watch out for that one dad!). She was dressed in the an adorable kelly green tunic with long, flowing sleeves, accompanied by navy and white striped pants. The beautiful Ms. Savannah was dressed in a similar long sleeve top (with a beautiful neckline if I may add)! and a crocheted white vest. Mom looked as gorgeous as ever in a navy high-necked tank with the handsome boys, Austin and Pete, adorned in plaid (as good ole’ Texas boys should be).

We shot this session at popular Fernland Historical Park.  With a short drive west of Conroe, the big plains are so beautiful to start our session off with.  Local restaurants like The Pizza Shack is a five minute drive up the road to have lunch or dinner at, Cedar Brake Park (a kid’s favorite park) is also right down the road

I’m so blessed to truly call the Paske’s my friends. The beauty that shines from this family originates from their tight-knit close and intimate relationship that is so blatantly obvious from the first time you hear Pete talk about his girls. I’ve loved the journey that our friendship has taken and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Conroe Elopement Photographer – Wise

Conroe Elopement Photographer – Wise

It’s Thursday and I have such a busy day ahead of me, so I am up and at ’em bright and early grinding some work out.  I never did share this sweet Elopement session, so I figured today was the day to do it!  Since I do not do many weddings anymore, it was a great change of pace for me to get in there again.

About this Elopement Session

This sweet family has been in my life for over half my life, so when Luke and his wife Savannah asked me to shoot this for them, I was ecstatic.  They eloped at the courthouse in Willis.  The judge that married them was so awesome and had such a positive and great message for them.  A bright and sunny day, filled with love and a positive message- what more could one ask on their wedding day?!

We then met up at Fernland Historical Park in Montgomery shortly after to take their Bride/Groom shots.  Savannah had lots of great ideas to supplement mine and Luke was just along for the ride.

For more information on how to book your session, please do email me: andrea@amsurak.com.  And if you’d like to see the highlights from this elopement, make sure you scroll below to see those!  Happy Thursday, everyone! <3

Family Photography Montgomery Tx | Frankie C

Family Photography Montgomery Tx, Frankie

Getting caught up on all these sessions and blogging them.  Soon, hopefully I will be caught up completely.  That will be the day right?!  Up next on the blog this morning is this sweet Family Photography Montgomery Tx session.  Frankie contacted me through a girl I work out with over at Crossfit Willis! <3  I love how, not only I get an amazing workout there at my gym, but that it’s a network of individuals who really support each other.  I absolutely love the community I am a part of there.  Any who- more about the session below.

About this Family Photography Session in Montgomery

We took to Fernland Historical Park to document this Family Photography Montgomery Tx session.  We wanted to utilize the various amount of scenery that Fernland has to offer.  From bridges, ponds, beautiful paths, and historical homes/cabins all the way to a Texas Staple: those dreamy big open fields.  It just provides such a versatile look to a photography collection of images.  It’s a favorite among many local photographers, including mine, and I just know the light there so well.  So it tends to be a little easier for me to get the perfect shots without really having to think about the light too much.  Be sure to keep scrolling for highlights!!  And if you’d like to book a session with me, be sure to get in touch.

Child and Newborn Photography Studio The Woodlands

Child and Newborn Photography Studio The Woodlands, Addi

Happy Monday, friends!!!  I had one newborn session at my Conroe studio this weekend and it went so well.  I just love how sleepy and peaceful newborn babies are.  Catching up on editing does take time and that’s where I am at right now.  It’s either get ahead of editing, or get ahead on blogging, so that’s where I am at currently.  BUT!  Since I am pretty much all caught up with the editing, now I play catch up with my blog.  Up next on the blog is sweet Addi.  We to Child and Newborn Photography Studio The Woodlands for a quick updated glance into this fleeting time in her life.

About the Session

Addi wore a dress from my studio wardrobe and she wore it well.  Coupled with pinks and golds, she looked so beautiful and just so perfect.  We also played with gold foil confetti and had such a blast with it.  Addi’s mama is the senior and wedding photographer in the local area, Amie Reinholz.  We have developed a friendship over the last few months, and being in such a competitive market, I do cherish the few relationships that blossom.  We support one another, encourage, help market one another and so much more.  I am so very grateful that we decided to get together and play.  Be sure to keep scrolling down for highlights from this session and get in touch if you’d like to book with me! <3

Woodlands Tx Family Photographer Turned Wedding Photog

Woodlands Tx Family Photographer Turned Wedding Photog

It’s Tuesday and what better way to start the day off with a simple, yet touching post.  These two people are so special to me and I was so honored to be there for their small wedding.  I was in the USAF with Sam.  I was her mentor and when she called me, we soon became aware that we were from the small North Houston town- Conroe!  Low and behold, we even went to the same school (at the same time) a few short years prior.  A small world, but one I am glad she came into mine.  I do not specialize in weddings anymore (that ship has sailed) but since she was getting married, this Woodlands Tx Family Photographer got to be a wedding photog for a small snippet of their big day.

A heart of gold who deserves so much happiness that I just couldn’t allow myself to leave my big camera at home for her big day.  Thank goodness her main photographer (Courtney Marie Photography) allowed me to take some shots of their wedding on my big camera.  I was the crazy best friend full of ideas and it didn’t phase Courtney at all.  I was so grateful to have these for my collection of special pictures to last me forever.  After all, she is someone that is closest to my heart.  I was happy to lay down my hat of a Woodlands Tx Family Photographer that day and enjoy this pivotal moment with them. <3

Below are the highlights from her special wedding and I was so happy to be a part of it. Be sure to get in touch or drop me a line if you’d like to chat about a special session of yours!!!! 🙂
